The Joy of Six | The 'Togetherness' Playlists

The Joy of Six | The 'Togetherness' Playlists

Last week we invited you all to submit your 'Togetherness' playlists to inspire and distract us from our indoors situation. We were flattered with the efforts you took to share these wicked personal compilations, from the insanely upbeat to the sanely contemplative. Massive THANK YOU to everyone who got involved.

As mentioned we did want to thank a few in particular and reward them for their efforts. Music appreciation runs deep in the veins of us here at Folk and our most learned ears thought that these below would be of wider interest; click the name links for their playlists compiled on Spotify -

Pigs… (In There) – Robert Wyatt
We Have come to Bless the House – Severed Heads
Love is Everywhere – Pharoah Sanders
Something on your mind – Karen Dalton
U.F.O. – Jim Sullivan
Daily Battles – Wynton Marsalis
And the Living Is Easy - Guts
Mr. Sun (miss da sun) - Greentea Peng
On the Edge of a Cliff - The Streets
This Must Be The Place - Talking Heads
Water No Get Enemy - Fela Kuti
People’s Faces - Kate Tempest
Mark Barrott - Baby Come Home
The Strangers - Two To Make A Pair
Jackie Mittoo - Totally Together
Brigitte Bardot - Contact
Dip In The Pool - On Retinae (West Version)
Roberto Musci - Lullabies... Mother Sings... Father Plays
Cymande / The Message
Esther Phillips / Disposable Society
Holy Fuck ft Alexis Taylor / Luxe
The Kinks / This is Where I Belong
Ela Orleans / Better Friends
Love / Everybody’s Gotta Live

Interestingly several tracks appeared many times through different peoples playlists; these speak volumes of who and what our community likes - check out the compilation here of 'Recurring Tunes'

The challenge also highlighted some sad recent losses - Bill Withers, soul legend, John Prine, folk & country artist and the high Lord of dance Andrew Weatherall. RIP for those who gave so much.

There are so many other great audio (and visual) contributions, we will be getting in touch directly with a bunch more people, so eyes peeled for DMs next week. You can see all the entrants at #folkjoyofsix.

Thanks once again for sharing and caring. Stay safe.
