Helping prop up the ever slipping cliffs on the Jurassic Coast lies the Boat Building Academy & Furniture School at Lyme Regis, Dorset. This incredible facility is one of very few places that still teaches the timeless craft of wooden boat building, this is analogue making at its most complex and physical.
Reassuringly it's packed full of students, tutors, technicians of all ages; despite the traditional category, the Boat Building Academy is a progressive charitable organisation providing courses and bursaries to people from wide and diverse backgrounds.
Echoing our interests in design & make, developing use of sustainable materials and processes, and enjoying the journey and passion along the way - we asked if they would road/ workshop test our latest ASSEMBLY garments and tell us more about what they do.
Thankfully they loved the jackets, trousers and tees... with the utilitarian styling holding up for some utility wear & tear too. Check out the film below for more.
