New Collection | Mens Spring 24

New Collection | Mens Spring 24

With pleasure, we launch our new Spring collection into the emerging light of February-March. This transitional period offers up an ‘everything goes’ philosophy for our wardrobe - from multi-layered & comfort-minded to pops of colour and braver patterns. But this is, of course, our modus operandi, we are always moving and developing, mixing and fixing, taking inspiration from high and low, with our eyes wide open… so for 2024, we ask everyone to Keep Wandering.

Working twelve months in advance, this collection started to come together with a visit to the work of British abstract artist and novelist Harland Miller. His multi-media, highly textured canvases are built from layers of ink, paint, and pastel with drips & strokes combined with clean-edge graphics. This approach chimes with how we design and make garments - a freeform start, reigned in to a considered end. His expressive technique pushed us to create a selection of grid-like textured fabrics. See this in our range of Indigo Waffle shirting, onto which we applied a new bleach wash finish, making it a lighter addition.

Miller’s novelist background shines through in his practice, combining image and text to reimagined classic Vintage Penguin covers with sardonic wit. Our new coil print takes cues from the geometric artworks and pattern repeats of these classic covers. His use of enlarged letters as hard-edge geometric forms inspired our new cutout print; layered brushstrokes of colour and curved shapes as negative space. We have also redeveloped our popular dot print this summer in seasonal colours of Ocean Blue and Black. The layout is a scattered, random formation and includes a bleed edge, referencing the imperfect, painterly nature of Miller’s work. This thread is followed through in our knitwear, using a melange brown yarn to echo the effect seen on the edges of the black dot shirt. Honing these kinds of ideas across a collection is really where we thrive.

Our colour palette pays homage to notes in Miller’s pieces, with soft earth tones of black, brown, tan and ecru grounding the collection. At the other end of the spectrum, we looked to his pop-art-inspired saturated colours and have included electric shades of coral and ocean blue to channel the optimism and playfulness that come with the warmer months.

All this has allowed for a collection which champions the charm of clarity over the
pretensions of complexity. Whether between the edges of a frame or cuts of cloth, the creative output should speak for itself. We hope this resonates with your experience of the collection, readying you for Springtime with a wardrobe that’s as practical as it is playful, allowing you to get creative with a wandering, curious mind.
